Welcome to the Annual Obon Festival of the Las Vegas Buddhist Sangha

Founded in 1984, the Las Vegas Buddhist Sangha is a Jodo Shinshu (Shin Buddhist) temple community grounded in the teachings of Shinran Shonin and the spirit of gratitude, compassion, and interconnectedness.

Obon is a time to remember and honor those who came before us: our ancestors, loved ones, teachers, and all who have shaped our lives. LVBS’s first Obon service, conducted by Reverend Akio Miyaji, was held on July 19, 1985.

Fast forward, Obon has become an Obon Festival, where we all celebrate the enduring connections between past and present.

Whether you are joining us for the first time or returning as past of our sangha family, we warmly welcome you to share in this tradition of remembrance, gratitude, and community.
